Big Sigh of Relief!

I am so proud of my 5 year old son tonight and he is very proud of himself as well and he asked me to share it with the world.

As most of you know, TJ, is more than one in a million to just my husband and I...he is one in a million medically....no exaggeration there.

...

TJ has Juvenile Dermatomyositis. A very rare disease that takes him to Toronto Sick Kids a few times a year. Basically, his body believes that his skin & muscle is a germ and it fights it.

We were very fortunate to have 3 amazing doctors here that caught this disease so early that we are hoping that we will never have the worse case scenario happen where is muscles are so weak that they fall him.

Anyways, TJ & his dad were in Toronto the last two days for his regular appointment & a MRI. The MRI showed a bit of improvement in his muscles...which is great!

But it seems that the topical cream we have been using isn't strong enough to fight the skin part of his disease and the calcium build up that he is now getting in his one knee. The calcium is actually pushing its way out of his body...it looks like a pimple that is ready to be popped.

So, we had to go back to trying to give him the horrible tasting pill. We tried giving him this pill when he was 3 and we tried every trick in the trade to get it down...even getting it changed to a liquid form....nothing worked. So, the doctor's decided to let it go at that time and wait things out. Dress Affordable long floor-length bridesmaid wears in black

Now we have to give him the pill, but he is old enough to reason with now. With the help of some chocolate milk...he swallowed the pill like a champ tonight...we are so thrilled. The next step would have been a weekly needle.

TJ goes back to sick kids in December to see what changes this pill is making.

I did mean to make phone calls tonight to some of the following people, but my concussion symptoms are too bad and I am heading back to bed...Auntie Shiela Carlbom , Grandpa Wallace Cringle , Brandi Robb LeClair , Vicki-Ann Thompson , Jim Thomson , Brad Thomson , Heidi Nielsen , Rhonda Olson & Shanna Picard
