"President Donald Trump may formally recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital early next week and direct his staff to prepare for moving the embassy to Jerusalem, Channel 2 News reported Wednesday night. The report, to which there was no immediate confirmation, followed a speech US Vice President Mike Pence gave a day earlier in which he said that Trump was 'actively considering' the step." Quite frankly, I am surprised that President Trump is considering this move now, as the negotiations between Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the Trump Administration concerning granting the Palestinians their own government, is said to be entering a new, sensitive phase.
Should the President move the American Embassy from Tel Aviv now, the Palestinians would rightly view the move as an irrefutable sign that America clearly favors the Jews. And, such a viewpoint would be clearly justified.
Would the Palestinians walk out of the "peace" negotiations? Perhaps. After all Palestinian leaders have walked away from previous negotiations when they were on the verge of achieving Israeli concessions which were unheard of beforehand. But, because the talks left Israel still in the Holy Land, PLO President Arafat simply walked out and went home!
"Israel's argument is that moving the embassy would correct a historical anomaly, whereby the US does not recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital. It would also force the Arabs and the Palestinians to wake up from a long-harbored fantasy that they could disassociate Israel and the Jewish people from Jerusalem."
The Palestinians might not walk out of the talks if President Trump announces the Embassy move to Jerusalem. After all, the Palestinian leadership is well aware that Russia. of all nations, has recently announced her support of all Jerusalem being Israel's capital.
"Russia announced in April that it recognizes west Jerusalem as Israel's capital, becoming the first country in the world to do so. That announcement was met by silence both in the Palestinian territories and in the Arab world."
Remember, the Palestinians will NOT get their full status as a nation; they will only get an announcement of their state (Isaiah 34:12), before God carries out His annihilating judgment
